About us - where we are
The parish of Godalming covers an area of approximately 100 square miles, being bounded on the north by the parish of Guildford, on the east by the parishes of Bramley and Cranleigh, on the south by the parish of Haslemere and on the west by the parish of Farnham. Godalming is the only town in the parish but there are large villages to the west and south west, as well as rural areas.
We have a parish school, St Edmund's Catholic Primary School, in The Drive, Godalming, and a convent of the Franciscan Missionaries of the Divine Motherhood at Ladywell.
The Diocesan Directory 1999 gives the average Mass attendance in the parish as 426. In the 1960s, though, it was 900.
Three young men from the parish have entered the priesthood: Fr Christopher Spender, Fr Dove and Fr Reynold.
